Structure of the Essay:

Introduction:

You can start the introduction through following ways:

  • Start with a general introduction/anecdote/an example/a short story/a poem/a quote/a recent event or trend etc which can help in describing the need for self-reliance.

Thesis Statement:

  • It is a transition statement between introduction and body of the essay.
  • In thesis statement, you should write outline of the body with your own arguments. You should prove these arguments in body of the essay with relevant examples.

Body of the essay:

Sport was designated by UNESCO as a “fundamental right for all” in 1978, as a vehicle for participation, inclusion, and citizenship. Sport, according to the International Working Group on Sport for Development and Peace, may improve health promotion and illness prevention, gender equality, communication and social mobilisation, and the development of critical social capital. Sport was defined for development purposes by the UN Inter-Agency Task Force on Sport for Development and Peace in 2003 as “all forms of physical activity that contribute to physical fitness, mental well-being, and social interaction, such as play, recreation, organised or competitive sport, and indigenous sports and games.”

What is character?

Character is a set of behaviours, attitudes, and feelings founded on universal ideals, moral strength, and integrity, as well as the courage to embody those principles every day. Character is demonstrated through one’s life virtues and the “line one should never cross.” Discuss terms such as integrity, ethics, value system, and so on.

How sports and particularly competition is related to character:

Consider why terms like sportsman spirit, competitive spirit, and so on are so popular, because sports describe a healthy sort of competitiveness that is uncommon in other fields; also discuss some examples, such as Nadal and Federer, and so on. Discuss what collaboration is and how sports foster it. Similarly, highlight particular sporting characteristics that are related to character. Discuss how some people resort to cheating through various tactics, such as drugs and prohibited supplements. Analyze what it indicates about individuals and connect it to growing pressure in modern sports.

Difference in individual games and team games:

Explain how team games are more sophisticated and incorporate both competition and collaboration at the same time. Individual games, on the other hand, are mostly about competition. Team sports can bring individuals of different colours, races, and creeds together for a similar objective, which can be beneficial to national integrity. Aside from the players, what is the influence on society as a whole? (most importantly followers) Sport is notable not just for its ability to enhance health and burn calories, but also for its ability to attract people of any ethnicity, religious or political conviction. It is critical to remember that feelings of involvement and shared citizenship are the bedrocks of nationhood and peaceful citizenship, and consequently of national progress.

If political and social leaders use it effectively, younger generations may acquire the skill of fairness and teamwork, as well as identification and common belonging. Create a strong and dynamic sporting environment in a country, and you will not only inspire active engagement from residents, but you will also break down existing racial and political divisions – if only for a few hours.

Place of sports in world today:

Discuss the size of the sports industry, from the amount of money (in major sporting leagues) to the passion of those participating. Discuss its connected industries, such as fitness equipment, shoes, merchandising, and sports products, as well as the jobs it creates.

India in World of Sports:

Discuss where India stands today in the world of sports and explain why the situation is terrible; furthermore, consider whether or not the situation is improving. Finally, explore how crucial money and technology have become in sports. As a result, well-funded sports organisations and teams tend to perform better.
