First trial of the INA  held at the Red Fort in Delhi in November 1945, putting on dock together three INA members – a Hindu, Prem Kumar Sehgal, a Muslim, Shah Nawaz Khan, and a Sikh, Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon.

The Congress, led by Bhulabhai Desai, Tej Bahadur Sapru, K.N. Katju, Nehru, and Asaf Jahangir, took up the defense of the INA detainees. At the historic Red Fort trials, they all appeared in court.
