The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially declared the UPSC Indian Forest Service (IFoS) Examination 2025 final result on 8th May 2026. A total of 148 candidates have been recommended for appointment to the Indian Forest Service against 150 reported vacancies. The result has been published in order of merit containing roll numbers and names of all recommended candidates.

📌 Result of 1 candidate has been withheld. The candidature of 71 recommended candidates has been kept provisional, subject to verification of reservation status under EWS, OBC, SC, ST, and PwBD categories by the concerned authorities.

Two current vacancies of PwBD-1 have been carried forward to the next recruitment year due to non-availability of suitable candidates. Appointments shall be made by the Government according to the number of vacancies available and subject to candidates fulfilling all prescribed eligibility conditions.

Candidates who find their names in the UPSC IFoS 2025 final merit list should take the following steps immediately:

Check UPSC website regularly: Visit upsc.gov.in for updates on marks, document verification, and appointment formalities.
Verify your marks: UPSC will publish individual marks within 15 days of result declaration (by approximately 23rd May 2026).
Keep category documents ready: Candidates with provisional candidature must ensure their EWS / OBC / SC / ST / PwBD certificates are valid and ready for verification.

The UPSC Indian Forest Service (IFoS) Final Result 2025 was officially released on 8th May 2026 by the Union Public Service Commission. The result is available on the UPSC official website at upsc.gov.in.
Basavaraj Kempawad (Roll No. 0332660) secured All India Rank 1 in the UPSC Indian Forest Service Examination 2025. The next four ranks went to Anshuman Kumar Singh (AIR 2), Siddharath (AIR 3), Karan Kumar Singh (AIR 4), and Aanchal Sharma (AIR 5).
A total of 148 candidates have been recommended for appointment to the Indian Forest Service in the UPSC IFoS 2025 final result, against 150 reported vacancies. The shortfall is due to non-availability of candidates for 2 PwBD-1 vacancies, which have been carried forward to the next recruitment year.
The category-wise recommended candidates are: General – 42 (including 2 PwBD-2 and 2 PwBD-3), EWS – 21, OBC – 52 (including 1 PwBD-2 and 1 PwBD-3), SC – 22, ST – 11 (including 1 PwBD-1). Total vacancies reported by the Government were 150, including 9 PwBD vacancies.
The written part of the Indian Forest Service Examination 2025 was held from 16th November to 23rd November 2025. The Personality Test (interviews) were conducted from 6th April to 15th April 2026.
UPSC has stated that the marks of all candidates will be made available on the official website (upsc.gov.in) within 15 days from the date of declaration of the result, which means by approximately 23rd May 2026.
As per UPSC norms, the candidature of 71 recommended candidates has been kept provisional because their claims regarding reservation status under EWS, OBC, SC, ST, and PwBD categories are subject to verification by the concerned Government authorities. These candidates must ensure their category certificates are valid and complete.
UPSC IFoS (Indian Forest Service) and UPSC Civil Services (IAS/IPS/IFS) share the same Preliminary examination (UPSC CSE Prelims). However, their Mains examinations are entirely different. IFoS Mains focuses on science, forestry, and environmental subjects, while Civil Services Mains covers General Studies, Essay, and optional subjects. IFoS recruits officers for the Indian Forest Service, while Civil Services recruits for IAS, IPS, IFS, and other central services.
