What to Do After the UPSC Mains Result 2026
1. Submit your application form by 25 November
The window on upsconline.nic.in runs from 11 November to 6:00 PM on 25 November 2026. Update every applicable field, including your service preference, home cadre, education, work experience and achievements. Before you rank your choices, read our UPSC Service Guide and UPSC Cadre Allocation Policy 2026.
Even if you have nothing to update, you must log in, verify your details and submit the form. Otherwise, UPSC will not issue your e-Summon Letter.
2. Upload proof of your qualifying exam, if applicable
Did you mark your educational status as "appearing" at the Prelims stage? You must now update it and upload proof of passing. If you don't, your candidature will be cancelled.
3. Keep your original documents ready
- Bring original certificates for age, education and any reservation or relaxation claim, along with documents such as the TA Form.
- Reservation or relaxation certificates must have been issued by 27 February 2026, the Prelims application closing date.
4. Report any address or contact changes within 7 days
Send changes to UPSC by letter or email at csm-upsc@nic.in within 7 days of the notice. UPSC will not accept any other changes to the application form.
5. Watch for your interview schedule and e-Summon Letter
UPSC will notify the interview dates in due course. Interviews will be held at Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi. E-Summon Letters will be available online only, and requests to change your date or time will not ordinarily be accepted. Meanwhile, you can start preparing with our Personality Test Mentorship Program and IAS Interview Guidance, and stay updated with Daily Current Affairs.
6. Complete the Attestation Form
The form will be available on the DoPT website from the start of the interviews until they end.
Your application form often shapes your interview, so don't treat it as paperwork. Before you submit, make sure you can confidently discuss every hobby, achievement and preference you list. — Legacy IAS Faculty
Marks and What Comes Next
The result notice doesn't include marks. UPSC will upload marksheets within 15 days of the final result, and they will remain available for 30 days. Your final rank depends on your Mains score (1,750 marks) and Personality Test score (275 marks), for a total of 2,025. For last year's outcome, see our UPSC CSE 2025 final results page.
