Why in News?

The Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela to be conducted in 242 districts of India.

About Apprenticeship Mela

  • Under the initiative, the aim is to support hiring of more than one lakh apprentices and assist employers in tapping the right talent and develop it further with training and providing practical skillsets.
  • The event will witness participation from more than 4000 organisations across the country, operating in more than 30 sectors such as Power, Retail, Telecom, IT/ITeS, Electronics, Automotive and more.
  • In addition, the aspiring youth will have the opportunity to engage and select from more than 500+ trades including Welder, Electrician, Housekeeper, Beautician, Mechanic etc.
  • The National Policy of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, 2015 launched by the Prime Minister on July 15, 2015, recognises apprenticeship as a means to provide gainful employment to skilled workforce with adequate compensation.
  • Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has also taken several efforts to increase the number of apprentices hired by enterprises in the country.
  • The aim is to fill the gap in supply and demand for skilled workforce and meet the aspirations of the Indian youth through gaining on-the-job training and securing better opportunities for employment.
  • Students who have cleared at least Class 5 to those who graduated Class 12, skill training certificate holders, ITI students, diploma holders and graduates are eligible to apply at the Apprenticeship Mela.

Youth Affairs and Sports Minister launched the themes of the Y20 summit, logo, and website in New Delhi in the curtain raiser event of Y20 Summit India.

What is the Y20 Summit?

  • The Y20 Summit is the official youth engagement group for the G20 (Group of 20), a forum for the world’s largest and most advanced economies.
  • The Y20 Summit brings together young leaders from around the world to discuss and debate global challenges and agree on policy recommendations for the G20 leaders to consider.
  • The policy recommendations are collected in a document called a communiqué, which is announced publicly at the Y20 Summit and presented to world leaders at the official G20 summit.

  • Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability a way of life

About India’s Hosting of the Y20 Summit

  • India is hosting the Y20 Summit for the first time.
  • The focus of India’s participation in the Youth 20 Engagement Group is to bring together young leaders from around the world to discuss ideas for a better future and create an action plan.
  • During India’s presidency of the Y20, the activities will focus on global youth leadership and partnership.
  • Leading up to the final Y20 Summit, there will be pre-summits on the five Y20 themes, as well as various discussions and seminars at universities across India.

Why in News?

National Single Window System, NSWS Portal for various Central, State, and UT clearances has hit a new milestone by crossing 75 thousand approvals.

What is the National Single Window System (NSWS)?

  • The NSWS is a digital platform that helps businesses identify and apply for approvals from various government departments and agencies.
  • The portal offers applications for approvals from 26 Central Departments and 19 State Governments, which can be accessed through the NSWS.
  • The NSWS provides a single interface for businesses to apply for all “G2B” clearances from various Ministries and Departments and helps to eliminate duplication of work by automatically filling out form fields based on a single investor profile.
  • The platform is intended to serve as an advisory tool to identify approvals based on user input and should be used for guidance purposes only.
Additional Information
  • The NSWS initiative represents a “Whole of Government” approach, with different Central Ministries, Departments, states, and Union Territories coming together to provide investor-related clearances on a single portal with transparency and accountability, improving the ease of doing business.
