The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) officially declared the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 on 6 March 2026, bringing to a close one of the longest and most gruelling selection processes in India. The merit list — available on upsc.gov.in — recommends 958 candidates for appointment to the IAS, IPS, IFS, and other Group A and Group B central services, against 1,087 vacancies reported by the Government of India. Anuj Agnihotri, an MBBS graduate from AIIMS Jodhpur and serving DANICS probationer from Rajasthan, has claimed the top spot with All India Rank 1. He is followed by Rajeshwari Suve M (AIR 2, female topper) and Akansh Dhull (AIR 3). The final merit list is based on combined performance in the Mains Written Examination (held August 2025) and the Personality Test / Interview (held December 2025 – February 2026), out of a total of 2,025 marks. “Congrats to all successful candidates as you begin a career of service to the nation,” said UPSC Chairman Ajay Kumar in a post on X shortly after the declaration.

Meet the Top 3 — UPSC CSE 2025 Toppers

1

Anuj Agnihotri — AIR 1

Rawatbhata, Rajasthan  |  MBBS, AIIMS Jodhpur (2023)  |  Medical Science Optional  |  5th Attempt

An MBBS doctor who chose public service over clinical medicine, Anuj Agnihotri’s journey spans six years of disciplined preparation. His father works at the Rawatbhata Nuclear Power Plant. After graduating from AIIMS Jodhpur in 2023, he joined DANICS (Delhi, Andaman & Nicobar Islands Civil Service) as a Group B probationer — gaining on-the-ground governance experience — while continuing his UPSC preparation. He chose Medical Science as his optional, leveraging his MBBS foundation, and undertook structured interview preparation at Legacy IAS, Bengaluru before clinching AIR 1.

“My god I can’t believe. God is great. 6 years of hard work finally paid off. Secured AIR 1 in my fifth attempt.”
2

Rajeshwari Suve M — AIR 2  (Female Topper)

Vadipatti, Madurai, Tamil Nadu  |  BE (EEE), Anna University  |  Sociology Optional  |  5th Attempt

Rajeshwari Suve M is the female topper of UPSC CSE 2025, achieving AIR 2 after five attempts. Born on 3 May 1997, she holds a BE in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Vel Tech Multi Tech Engineering College (affiliated with Anna University, Chennai). Before this result, she was already serving as a Deputy Collector (Training) in Tamil Nadu government after clearing the TNPSC Group 1 examination — making her one of the few toppers with both state and civil services experience. She chose Sociology as her optional. Remarkably, she has expressed her preference to join the Indian Police Service (IPS).

3

Akansh Dhull — AIR 3

Rohtak / Panchkula, Haryana  |  B.Com (Hons), SRCC Delhi  |  Commerce & Accountancy Optional

Akansh Dhull, a B.Com graduate from the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), University of Delhi, secured AIR 3 after beginning his UPSC journey in 2021. He had earlier achieved Rank 342 in CSE 2023, and his steady improvement to AIR 3 in 2025 is a testament to consistent effort. He chose Commerce & Accountancy as his optional, directly aligned with his academic background. His father’s encouragement was a key motivating factor throughout his preparation.
